Create A Space
In 2022 Twirl worked with our community partners on a project exploring the connections between our feelings and the spaces we inhabit. In this program, kids are asked to think about all the different feelings they can have and make mood meters describing how they feel (We can have many feelings at once! Feelings come and go! There are no wrong feeling!). They take this exploration and create a space that reflects their feelings or supports them when they are feeling a certain way. The results of this project have been totally inspiring! We have all enjoyed having space to explore our feelings and to get creative Twirl style. We have also learned some STEAM skills by adding moving parts and a circuit with a working light to our projects. It is Social Emotional and STEAM learning all wrapped up in a box!
Leading up to The Paseo 2022, we continued this project in a modified version with community groups and School events. The art installation that we developed for the nights of the Paseo grew from our experience with this project and the awesome creativity of our community. We hosted FREE Family Create A Space Events at Twirl , The Harwood Museum and Questa Public Library.
