At Home with Twirl & Friends
When COVID hit our world and our community, Twirl was invited by Lynn Robinson, Editor of Taos News’ Tempo Magazine to provide a weekly column that might inform, inspire and support kids and families during the shutdown. We were thrilled to take on this role and have drawn on the contributions of many of our friends.
To date, Field Institute of Taos, Taos Land Trust, Silke West, Connie White and her kids on Straight Arrow Road, Growing Community Now, Taos Charter’s Katie Woodall, Inspire Preschool, TIWA Babies, First Steps, Taos Behavioral Health, Mindful Frontiers, Taos Education Collaborative, Media Savvy Citizens, The Nurturing Center, NM STEAM HUB, Penasco Community School, Taos Public Library, Media Savvy Citizens, Enos Community School, Youth Heartline, Explora, StemArts Lab, KNCE, Anansi Charter, Taos Academy of the Arts, Estelle Laurie, Taos Academy of the Arts, Michael Noll and Penasco Community School, The Paseo, Kiki Shakti and hosts Twirl have penned articles ranging from how to help kids practice mindfulness to fostering land stewardship and a love of nature.
Each offers its own unique perspectives, while the sum of its parts provides an ongoing sense of connection to familiar faces and friends who might be absent in our physical lives but remain present for us. We hope these articles offer an encouraging reminder that, even as social distancing has led to widespread and deep feelings of loss, isolation and separation, we remain part of a bigger whole: a vibrant, caring, compassionate and creative community.
